Watch: online lecture on language and identity
Hoe does being confronted with other, or strange languages make you become aware of your own identity? Sjoerd-Jeroen Moenandar, one of our lecturers, explored this question yesterday in an online lecture for the Dutch United Nations Study Association (SIB).
On a weekly basis, SIB organises lectures and symposia about global affairs. With the current corona measures, they moved their lectures to the online platform Zoom and livestream the talks via Facebook.
If you want to get a glimpse of what a lecture in our BA M&M programme might look like (at least, content-wise), you can watch the recording of the livestreamed lecture here (via Facebook). The lecture gives you a good impression of a topic that we explore in one of the M&M courses: how does language contribute to the development of identity. Also stick around for the interesting discussion following the lecture.
If you want to learn more about SIB or want to watch recorded versions of some of their previous talks, visit their Facebook page.
