A Multi Christmas Dinner
How do you host a Christmas dinner party in a pandemic? Minorities & Multilingualism’s study association Multi came up with the perfect solution: do it takeaway style!
Secretary Emma Smith on the festivities: “Unfortunately, this year the dinner could not take place as it usually would have. That did not stop us, we were still determined to get everyone in the festive spirit!
On Wednesday 16th December we organised a takeaway delivery service for our annual Christmas dinner! The Multi-board cooked dinner, and the members had the option to pick up their food, or have their meal delivered to their door!
Throughout the day we used the online platform Discord to allow the members to communicate and chat amongst themselves whilst waiting for their food deliveries. Later on, once the members received their food, we met online and ate together! We watched a Christmas film via the app ‘Teleparty’, which allows a group of people to watch the same film at the same time on Netflix!
Although this is not usually how we expect our Annual Christmas Dinner to take place, this was a Corona-proof way of still feeling connected and close during this festive time of year. The activities were hosted online, and the food deliveries were made at a 1.5m distance. We had a lot of fun, and it was great that our last event of the year was such a success!
We wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!”
